Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas! is a wonderful, whimsical musical based upon the classic Dr. Seuss book. Back for its 18th incredible year, the family favorite features the songs “Santa for a Day,” “You’re a Mean One, Mr. Grinch,” and “Welcome, Christmas (Fah Who Doraze),” the delightful carol from the popular animated version of How the Grinch Stole Christmas! Celebrate the holidays as the Old Globe Theatre is once again transformed into the snow-covered Whoville, right down to the last can of Who-hash.

Scotty Atienza (Little Who Ensemble, Red Team) is delighted to be making his Globe debut in Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas! He is an Associate Artist with Lamb’s Players Theatre, where he portrayed Gavroche for 100 performances in Les Misérables, which won seven San Diego Theatre Critics Circle Craig Noel Awards, including Outstanding Resident Musical and Outstanding Ensemble. Also with Lamb’s, Atienza played Buzz in Festival of Christmas: Northern Lights, participated in the celebration portion of 100 Hours of Stories, and will play Thor in The Nerd in January. He also sang with the San Diego Symphony as the boy soprano in Green Eggs and Ham. He has performed in numerous Christian Youth Theater productions, including Seussical, for which he won the Director’s Choice Award for Best Actor 12 & Under as General Schmitz. Atienza loves to make people laugh. He thanks God and his family for their love and support.
Emily Sade Bautista (Annie Who, Pink Team) is a 10-year-old who is excited to make her debut at The Old Globe in Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas! She most recently played a Mouse in A Year with Frog and Toad (Coronado Playhouse/Pickwick Players). Some of her favorite credits include Mini Lucy/Ginger Blanket in You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown as well as School House Rock, Shrek The Musical, and The Little Mermaid (Christian Youth Theater). She would like to thank God, her family, friends, and vocal coach Karyn Overstreet for their support.
J. Bernard Calloway (The Grinch) is elated to be spending his holiday season with The Old Globe as The Grinch! On Broadway, Calloway has been fortunate to be in the original cast of two Tony Award-winning shows: Memphis (2010 Best Musical) and All the Way (2014 Best Play). Regionally he has worked at La Jolla Playhouse, Berkeley Repertory Theatre, The 5th Avenue Theatre, Dallas Theater Center, Actors Theatre of Louisville, American Repertory Theater, Two River Theater, Fox Theatre, McCarter Theatre Center, and North Shore Music Theatre as well as Off Broadway at The Public Theater, to name a few. His film credits include The Breaks (coming in December 2015 on VH1), The Taking of Pelham 1 2 3, Man on a Ledge, The Girl Is in Trouble, Big Words, and Anesthesia. His television credits include “The Good Wife,” “Blue Bloods,” “Elementary,” “White Collar,” “Law & Order,” “Law & Order: Criminal Intent,” and “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.” Love to his wife, Carmen Ruby.
Jacob Caltrider (Grown-Up Who Ensemble) previously appeared at the Globe with Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas! (2011-2013) and Richard O’Brien’s The Rocky Horror Show. His local credits include Violet (San Diego Repertory Theatre), West Side Story (San Diego Musical Theatre), Spring Awakening, Assassins, Parade, Little Shop of Horrors, Cabaret, Sweeney Todd,and The History Boys (Cygnet Theatre Company), The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee (North Coast Repertory Theatre), Les Misérables, Twelfth Night, Festival of Christmas,and An American Christmas (Lamb’s Players Theatre), and Marry Me a Little, Twist, Yank!,and the original casts of Harmony, Kansas and The Daddy Machine (Diversionary Theatre).
Geno Carr (Grandpa Who) is joyfully grateful to return both to Whoville and The Old Globe, having previously appeared in Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas! (2011-2014) and Allegiance – A New American Musical. His other San Diego credits include Come from Away (La Jolla Playhouse), miXtape, The Servant of Two Masters, The Foreigner, and The Music Man (Lamb’s Players Theatre, Associate Artist), Assassins, Parade, Little Shop of Horrors, and Sweeney Todd (Cygnet Theatre Company, Resident Artist), I Love You Because and A Christmas Carol (2008-2009) (North Coast Repertory Theatre), A Waltz Dream (Lyric Opera San Diego), Next to Normal (San Diego Musical Theatre), and The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee (Intrepid Theatre Company). Carr, a BroadwayWorld and San Diego Critics Circle Award nominee, has appeared Off Broadway in Bush Wars and on the national tours of Phantom, The Buddy Holly Story, and Grease. He holds an M.F.A. in Acting and Directing from Sarah Lawrence College and a dual B.A. in Music and Theatre Arts from Hartwick College. For Nancy (wifey/Grandma Who) and Elliott (their new baby Who).
Nancy Snow Carr (Grandma Who) is grateful to return to The Grinch for her fifth year. She was also seen at the Globe as Lady Montague in The Last Goodbye. Her favorite credits include Lina Lamont in Singin’ in the Rain (Merry-Go-Round Playhouse, New York); the national tours of Phantom and The Buddy Holly Story; Dorothy in the Washington, DC, premiere of Summer of ‘42 (Round House Theatre); Rona in The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee (Intrepid Theatre Company); and Catherine in The Foreigner (Lamb’s Players Theatre). She received a B.F.A. in Musical Theatre from Elon University and M.F.A. from San Diego State University. She is a proud member of Actors’ Equity Association and the National Association of Teachers of Singing. She operates a private studio in San Diego where she offers voice lessons and audition preparation. She is delighted to perform with several of her students and tons of her friends. She and her husband, Geno (Grandpa Who), are glad to introduce their own brand new baby Who, Elliott, into the Grinch family.
Mikee Castillo (Cindy-Lou Who, Pink Team) is an eight-year-old third grader from Good Shepherd Catholic School who is absolutely thrilled and ecstatic to spend her first holiday season in Whoville. Castillo was previously seen as a Chorus Cat in CATS: A New Day 2015 (California Youth Conservatory) and as Sara Borty-Lio’s Sister in the independent film Driving While Black (Anthem Films). When not on stage, she loves to spend time singing, dancing, doing all sorts of arts and crafts, perfecting her monkey bar and cartwheel skills, and building digital worlds on Minecraft with her brother, Joey. Castillo feels excited and blessed to be part of this year’s Grinch production and is grateful to God, her family, and her friends for their love and support, and especially to her big sister, Nikki, for her patience, guidance, and encouragement.
Taylor Coleman (Cindy-Lou Who, Red Team), aka Tater Tot, is thrilled to be returning to Whoville after playing Cindy-Lou Who the past two years. She is nine years old and is a fourth grader at Sage Canyon Elementary School. Most recently she played Young Fiona in Shrek The Musical and Gracie Shinn in The Music Man (Moonlight Stage Productions) and Minnie Oakley in Annie Get Your Gun (San Diego Musical Theatre). Coleman dances with Royal Academy of Performing Arts, studies voice at NC Studios, and is a competitive gymnast for So Cal TTC. She enjoys playing with her big sister, Sam, and little sister, Sadie. Coleman also loves snuggling with puppies Newman and Piper and wants to be a veterinarian when she grows up. She would like to thank the entire team at The Old Globe for this insanely awesome opportunity. She wishes everyone a very Merry Grinchmas!
Giovanni Cozic (Boo Who, Red Team) is making his Globe debut. He recently appeared on stage in the world premiere musical Up Here (La Jolla Playhouse). Cozic has been a student at San Diego Junior Theatre for over six years, where he has been a part of 10 productions. His hobbies include soccer, cooking, geography, and U.S. history. Much love and special thanks to his parents, brother Pierre, James Vásquez, the Whoville team, and his entire SDJT family for their support and encouragement. Merry Grinchmas!
David Kirk Grant (Grown-Up Who Ensemble) made his Globe debut last year in The Grinch. Grant’s touring credits include Julian Marsh in 42nd Street, Charlie Cowell and Harold Hill in The Music Man, Dick Deadeye in H.M.S. Pinafore, and The Pirate King in The Pirates of Penzance. His regional credits include Thug #1 in Kiss Me, Kate starring Wayne Brady (Pasadena Playhouse), Side Show directed by Academy Award winner Bill Condon (La Jolla Playhouse), Hugh Dorsey in Parade, Governor and Innkeeper in Man of La Mancha (San Diego Theatre Critics Circle Award nomination), Larry in Company (Cygnet Theatre Company), Norbert in The Great American Trailer Park Musical (San Diego Repertory Theatre), Zoser in Aida (Tuacahn Center for the Arts), Jim in Pump Boys and Dinettes, Burl Sanders in Smoke on the Mountain (Lamb’s Players Theatre), Michael in I Do! I Do!, Walter Anderson in Chess, Juan Perón in Evita, and Rev. Shaw Moore in Footloose (Moonlight Stage Productions), Man #1 in Ring of Fire: The Music of Johnny Cash and Amos Calloway in Big Fish. He can occasionally be spotted as Jafar in Disney’s Aladdin – A Musical Spectacular (Disney California Adventure Park). He was a co-star on NBC’s “The Office”and recently finished the upcoming feature film The Thin Line. Grant is a proud member of Screen Actors Guild and Actors’ Equity Association.
Elisa Guerra (Little Who Ensemble, Red Team) is excited to make her Globe debut in Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas! She is 10 years old and attends La Mesa Arts Academy. Guerra discovered her love of theatre in first grade as part of the ensemble in Annie Get Your Gun at Mt. Helix Academy. Since then she has enjoyed her roles in The Little Mermaid (Mt. Helix Academy), Babes in Toyland (Kroc Kids Junior Theatre Company), Annie, playing the role of July (Mt. Helix Academy), and Fiddler on the Roof (Young Actors’ Theatre). Her favorite role so far has been JoJo in Seussical (Mt. Helix Academy). Guerra is honored to work with such a talented cast and is excited to have grown as an actor through this experience. She is grateful to The Old Globe for this great opportunity and to her friends, coaches, and family for all their support.
Steve Gunderson (Old Max) has previously appeared at the Globe in Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas! (1999-2000, 2003, 2005, 2007-2014), Suds: The Rocking ‘60s Musical Soap Opera (also co-writer/arranger), A Trip to Chinatown,and Hadrian VII. He appeared in the national tour of The Grapes of Wrath, and his Off Broadway credits include Butley, Street Scene, Suds, Back to Bacharach and David. His regional credits include His Girl Friday, The Nightingale, and Memphis (La Jolla Playhouse), Dirty Blonde, Parade, and Sweeney Todd (Cygnet Theatre Company), Romance, Detroit, Miss Witherspoon, and Hairspray (San Diego Repertory Theatre), You Can’t Take It with You and An Ideal Husband (Lamb’s Players Theatre), Birds of a Feather (Diversionary Theatre), Into the Woods (New Village Arts), and roles at The Colony Theatre Company, Pasadena Playhouse, Laguna Playhouse, Alliance Theatre, North Coast Repertory Theatre, Rubicon Theatre Company, and La Mirada Theatre as well as The Melinda & Steve Show with Melinda Gilb in New York, Los Angeles, and San Diego. Gunderson and Javier Velasco created Everybody’s Talkin’: The Music of Harry Nilsson,which had its world premiere this year at San Diego Rep starring Tony Award winners Gregory Jbara and Alice Ripley. For television, he has provided various voices on “King of the Hill” and the new “Beavis and Butt-Head.”
Kyrsten Hafso-Koppman (Grown-Up Who Ensemble) previously appeared at The Old Globe in Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Chirstmas (2013-2014).Her local credits include Cats (San Diego Musical Theatre), A Midsummer Night’s Dream, The Musical (Intrepid Shakespeare Company), Les Misérables, Fiddler on the Roof, Pete ‘n’ Keely, and Joe vs The Volcano (Lamb’s Players Theatre), Sweeney Todd (Moonlight Stage Productions), King o’ the Moon (North Coast Repertory Theatre), and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat (Welk Resort Theatre). Hafso-Koppman recently performed the role of Mary in Respighi’s oratorio Laud to the Nativity in Spokane and Seattle. She earned her B.A. in Vocal Performance from Whitworth University and her M.F.A. in Musical Theatre from San Diego State University.
Ava Harris (Little Who Ensemble, Pink Team) is a fourth grader at Nazareth School San Diego and is thrilled beyond belief to be cast in her first production at The Old Globe. Her past performances include Annie Jr. (California Youth Conservatory), Summer Sessions Cabaret (Karyn Overstreet Vocal Studio), Beauty and the Beast (Christian Youth Theater Central), The Wizard of Oz (Nazareth School), and December Nights (Balboa Park). She is a student at the amazing Karyn Overstreet Vocal Studios. Harris would like to thank her twin brother, Miles, parents, family, and friends for all of their support.
Katrina Heil (Little Who Ensemble, Red Team) last appeared at The Old Globe in Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas! (2012). Her other theatre credits include Festival of Christmas: Catch a Falling Star (Lamb’s Players Theatre), Fancy Nancy, Dinosaurs Before Dark, The Addams Family, Snoopy, and The Little Mermaid (San Diego Junior Theatre), and The Nutcracker (San Diego Civic Youth Ballet). She has trained at San Diego Junior Theatre, San Diego Civic Youth Ballet, Neisha’s Dance & Music Academy, and, for voice, with Cris O’Bryon and Karyn Overstreet. She is in the fifth grade and enjoys piano, reading, writing, swimming, and playing with her brother, Tristan.
Brooke Henderson (Teen Who, Pink Team) sat in awe at the age of three and watched Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas! at The Old Globe. It was then that she said, “I want to do that!” This show inspired her to pursue musical theatre. She is honored and elated to be back in Whoville for a fourth year. She is an eighth grader at The Language Academy and is fluent in French. She is a member of the Links to STEM program; impACT on Stage’s anti-bullying troupe, and the JT on Tour choir. Henderson’s first love is musical theatre; some of her credits include Annie and The Music Man (Moonlight Stage Productions),Little Inezin Hairspray (Southwestern College), Big River (California Youth Conservatory), Tarzan (Moonlight Youth Theatre), supporting roles in several independent films, and many productions at San Diego Junior Theatre. Hourie Klijian (Betty-Lou Who, Pink Team) is delighted to return to The Old Globe to perform in another season of The Grinch. She has appeared in Les Misérables and Christmas on my Mind (Lamb’s Players Theatre), The Sound of Music (San Diego Musical Theatre), Fiddler on the Roof, The Wizard of Oz, The Music Man, and Shrek The Musical (Moonlight Stage Productions), Annie and Peter Pan Jr. (San Diego Junior Theatre), A Gala Musical Review (Kroc Kids Junior Theatre Company), and Celebrity Sonnets. She has also made solo vocal performances at a number of venues in San Diego, including Coronado Playhouse’s Strike Up the Band cabaret and Lamb’s Players Theatre’s An Evening of Hits. She sings regularly in her church choir and loves watching old musicals during family movie night. She thanks and gives her love to God and her family.
Levi Laddon (Boo Who, Pink Team) is excited to join the cast of Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas! He is in fifth grade and is 10 years old. He has been acting and singing since he began to walk and talk. He enjoys performing with Young Actors’ Theatre in Spring Valley and in Purim shpiels at Temple Emanu-El. He also enjoys putting on plays and singing at home for family and friends. Laddon’s favorite roles include the title role in Peter Pan, Winthrop in The Music Man, and Sebastian in The Little Mermaid. He has been nominated twice for the National Youth Arts Award for his performances as Chi-Fu in Mulan and Iago in Aladdin. He also enjoys surfing and ice skating. Laddon would like to thank his family, friends, and voice coach Debbie Glivar Roberts for their love and support.
Breanna Laureti (Annie Who, Red Team) is excited and honored to be making her debut at The Old Globe as Annie Who in Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas! In addition to her previous Peter Pan role in Peter Pan, she played Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz, Ursula in Bye Bye Birdie,Marley in Bah Humbug,and Pirate Ensemble in Jingle ARRGH! the Way, for which she was awarded the Mint Award (San Diego Junior Theatre). Laureti loves acting and singing and can be found practicing piano, attending dance classes, or playing soccer and volleyball. She spends her free time singing, reading, and writing songs. Laureti would like to thank St. Michael’s School for introducing her to the love of the arts. She would also like to thank her parents for their support and chauffeuring. Merry Christmas!
Bets Malone (Mama Who) celebrates Christmas once again at The Old Globe after being seen as Mama Who the past two seasons. She was most recently seen as Sandra Bloom in Big Fish at Moonlight Stage Production and as Jane in the premiereof Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice. Her favorite regional credits include Mary Poppins, Next to Normal, Sweeney Todd, 1776, Once Upon a Mattress, Evita, Ragtime, Into the Woods, Annie Get Your Gun, All Shook Up, and Children of Eden. Malone originated the role of Suzy in the Off Broadway production of The Marvelous Wonderettes and can be heard on three Wonderette albums. She is featured as Tallulah the monkey in Barbie as the Island Princess as well as the singing voice of Velma in Scooby-Doo! Music of the Vampire. Malone is proudly married to Steven Glaudini, artistic director of Moonlight Stage Productions.
Gabriela Marin (Betty-Lou Who, Red Team) is thrilled to be making her Globe debut. Her past musical theatre credits include General Genghis Khan Schmitz in Seussical (Visionary Youth Theatre) and Oompa Loompa in Willy Wonka and Molly’s Gang in Annie (Christian Youth Theater) as well as Shepherd in La Pastorela under the direction of William Virchis. Marin has also participated in nationwide television singing contests on “Sabado Gigante” (Univision), “La Voz Kids” (Telemundo), and “Lagrimita y Costel” (EstrellaTV). She also placed first in the local singing contest “Despierta Tu Talento” (Univision San Diego). Marin would like to thank God, her family, and her friends for their support, especially her vocal coach, Pandeli Lazaridi.
Kennedy Nibbe (Little Who Ensemble, Pink Team) is making her Globe debut this year in Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas! She is seven years old and in the second grade. She is the second-oldest of four singing and dancing siblings in her household. She was most recently cast as Babydoll in Traditions of Christmas with Christian Community Theater. She loves to sing, dance, and act, and she studies ballet, jazz, tap, acting, and voice. She enjoys her theatre training with both Christian Youth Theater and J*Company Youth Theatre. She loves movies, live theatre, and reading a good book. When she grows up she wants to be a dentist. Nibbe would like to thank The Old Globe team for this amazing opportunity, and she sends extra love to all her family.
Brandon Saldivar (Danny Who, Pink Team) is a sixth-grade student at The Academy at Black Mountain Middle School. He is ecstatic and humbled to be reunited with his Who family after previously playing Boo Who in 2013. His recent theatre credits include Ensemble in It’s a Bird...It’s a Plane...It’s Superman, Edmund in The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, and Ancestor in The Addams Family (San Diego Junior Theatre). His film credit includes a video short produced by the San Diego Natural History Museum. Aside from acting and singing, he enjoys hanging out with friends, traveling, going to Padres games, and watching WWE shows. He is very thankful for the training he has received from San Diego Junior Theatre and coaching from Mrs. Debbie Glivar Roberts.
Blake Segal (Young Max) is a New York City-based actor, teacher, and dialect coach. He is overjoyed to be back in San Diego, having fallen in love with The Old Globe and the city while appearing in Ken Ludwig’s Baskerville: A Sherlock Holmes Mystery earlier this year. He appeared in the national tour of Mary Poppins and Off Broadway in Bones in the Basket with The Araca Project. His regional credits include The Corn is Green and Wing It (Williamstown Theatre Festival), Nerds (Philadelphia Theatre Company, Barrymore Award nominee), Romeo and Juliet, POP!, and Rough Crossing (Yale Repertory Theatre), Carousel (Paper Mill Playhouse), Lysistrata (Connecticut Repertory Theatre), Amadeus, The Winter’s Tale, and Arcadia (Chautauqua Theater Company), Good People (The Public Theatre, Maine), Les Enfants de Paris (New York Musical Theatre Festival), Aristophanes’ The Frogs (Fault Line Theatre). He has performed in concerts at 54 Below, Irish Repertory Theatre, Paper Mill Playhouse, and Boston Symphony Hall. He has been seen on television on “Blue Bloods.” Segal is a proud graduate of Yale School of Drama (M.F.A.) and University of Virginia (B.A.)—making him a Hoo in Whoville!
Clay Stefanki (Grown-Up Who Ensemble) is honored to make his debut at The Old Globe. His regional credits include 42nd Street, Hairspray, Guys and Dolls, Anything Goes, and Life Could Be A Dream (Moonlight Stage Productions), Guys and Dolls (Lamb’s Players Theatre), Spamalot and Hairspray (Musical Theatre West), Irving Berlin’s White Christmas (Cabrillo Music Theatre), and Miss Saigon (McCoy Rigby Entertainment). Stefanki was also in the regional premiere of Mary Poppins as the Bert understudyat Tuacahn Center for the Arts. His other regional credits include Starlight Express and Thoroughly Modern Millie (Tuacahn), Mary Poppins (Gateway Playhouse, Ogunquit Playhouse), and The Little Mermaid (Alabama Shakespeare Festival). He was also fortunate to perform internationally with Miss Saigon at the Macau International Music Festival inMacau, China. Stefanki holds a Bachelor’s degree in Musical Theater from UCLA.
Hannah Tasto (Little Who Ensemble, Pink Team) is a feisty 10-year-old and a fifth grader at Explorer Elementary School. She feels so blessed to be making her Globe debut with this awesome production. She has been in eight Christian Youth Theater Central productions, her favorite being The Sound of Music,where she discovered her love of the stage and garnered her first callback. Her other performance experiences include The Nutcracker (City Ballet) as well as dance showcases and a vocal performance at December Nights. Her interests include singing (constantly), acting, soccer, volleyball, hanging out with her BFFs, playing piano, and mostly making people laugh with her silly antics. Thanks to Courtney Corey, her amazing vocal coach, and April Henry, for keeping her steps timed. Mostly, thanks to Mom, Dad, Delanie, and J.P.—love you all to the moon and back! .
Jill Townsend (Grown-Up Who Ensemble) is thrilled to be back at The Old Globe, having last performed in The Grinch (2014) and the world premiere of Allegiance – A New American Musical. Most recently, Townsend has been working behind the scenes for her family’s theatre company, San Diego Musical Theatre, as the Associate Artistic Director and Casting Director. But her favorite role to date is being mother to sweet Chase Evan Townsend! Townsend’s selected credits include Judy Haynes in Irving Berlin’s White Christmas (San Diego Musical Theatre), Winnie Tate in Annie Get Your Gun and Patty Simcox in Grease (Music Circus), Miss Dorothy in Thoroughly Modern Millie and Eileen in the West Coast premiere of I Love a Piano (Musical Theatre West), Columbia in Rocky Horror Picture Show: A Tribute (Universal Studios Hollywood), The Mistress in Evita (Fullerton Civic Light Opera), and the national tours of A Chorus Line and Camelot.

Kelsey Venter (Grown-Up Who Ensemble) is thrilled to return to The Old Globe and The Grinch for her fourth year in Whoville. Venter was last seen in the world premiere of Monstress (American Conservatory Theater). (Woodminster Amphitheater), She Loves Me and Boeing-Boeing (Center REP Theatre), The Threepenny Opera and A Seagull in the Hamptons (Shotgun Players), and Love and Information, ‘Tis Pity She’s a Whore, and A Christmas Carol (ACT). Venter earned her B.A. in Theatre from San Diego State University and her M.F.A. in Acting from American Conservatory Theater.
Elliot Weaver (Danny Who, Red Team) is thrilled, honored, and humbled to return to Whoville at The Old Globe for a third year in Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas! Most recently, Weaver played Winthrop in The Music Man and Young Will in Big Fish (Moonlight Stage Productions). His other credits include Vlad Vladikoff in Seussical (Encore Youth Theatre) and a lead role in Cinderella and If the Shoe Fits, Chicken Little, Beauty and the Beast, and Rapunzel (TheatreWest). Weaver is a 13-year-old eighth grader at The Classical Academy in Vista. He studies voice at NC Studios, dances with Evolution Dance, and takes tumbling at SoCal Gymnastics. When not acting, he enjoys acrobats on the trampoline, tumbling, singing, and hanging out with his best bud Charli, his French bulldog. He thanks the entire cast, crew, and staff at The Old Globe for this magical experience and wishes everyone a very Merry Grinchmas!
Max Wieczorek (Little Who Ensemble, Pink Team) is ecstatic to be appearing in Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas! He enjoys acting and musical theatre and has appeared as Winthrop in The Music Man (Center Stage Children’s Theater) and Seahorse in The Little Mermaid (Carlsbad Community Theatre), and he was especially proud to inaugurate the role of Young Danny Kellen in the world premiere production of Extraordinary: A New Contemporary Musical (Wallace Theatre). He has also appeared in The Wizard of Oz and various church and school productions. Wieczorek plays piano and viola and is a competitive soccer, football, and chess player. In his free time he enjoys skateboarding, boogie boarding, and video games. He attends Stella Maris Academy in La Jolla where he is in the fourth grade. Wieczorek wants to thank his family and God for their support and blessings.
Braelyn Willis (Teen Who, Red Team) is extremely proud to be joining the annual holiday cast of Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas! She lives in San Diego with her family and attends Parkway Middle School, where she is in the eighth grade. Her favorite subjects are science and social studies. This is Willis’s first professional acting performance. She has previously sung in the choir and performed praise dance at her church. She has played six years of piano and loves to sing, and she also enjoys fashion and spending time with her family and friends. Willis has also participated in the Young Performers’ Workshop at La Jolla Playhouse. She would like to thank her mom, dad, and brother for their love and support and her friends for giving her the confidence to be herself. She also thanks director James Vásquez for allowing her to enjoy this valuable experience.
Catalina Jewel Zelles (Little Who Ensemble, Red Team), eight years old, is seeing a Christmas wish come true by making her professional stage debut in The Old Globe’s Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas! A singer, actor, and dancer, she has joyfully performed in more than 20 theatrical productions throughout San Diego. Some of her favorite roles include Little Cosette in Les Misérables (AVO Playhouse), Molly in Annie (STAR Repertory Theatre), Winthrop in The Music Man (Carlsbad Community Theatre), and JoJo in Seussical (North Coast Repertory Theatre). Her other theatre credits include Alice in Wonderland, The Miracle Worker, and Aladdin (North Coast Rep), Willy Wonka and Peter Pan (STAR Rep), Fiddler on the Roof (Oceanside Theatre Company), Queen of Hearts (Theatre Arts School of San Diego), and Tarzan (Moonlight Youth Theatre). A passionate thespian, she won best actress at the San Diego Student Shakespeare Festival (2014, 2015) and performed in Celebrity Sonnets (2014, 2015).   Timothy Mason (Book and Lyrics) has been represented at the Globe and on Broadway with the musical Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas! His other theatre credits include Levitation, Only You, Babylon Gardens with Timothy Hutton and Mary-Louise Parker, and The Fiery Furnace starring Julie Harris (Circle Repertory Company), his six-play The Young Americans Cycle (comprised of Ascension Day, The Less Than Human Club, Time on Fire, Mullen’s Alley, My Life in the Silents, and The Life to Come)(American Conservatory Theater’s Young Conservatory in San Francisco), Cannibals (Naked Eye Theatre), Six (Guthrie Theater Lab), Actors Theatre of Louisville, South Coast Repertory, Seattle Repertory Theatre, Victory Gardens Theater, the Jungle Theatre in Minneapolis, and the Royal National Theatre, London. Mason created many plays for young audiences at the Children’s Theatre Company in Minneapolis, including musicals in collaboration with Mel Marvin, and the first Dr. Seuss musical, The 500 Hats of Bartholomew Cubbins with composer Hiram Titus. Mason’s novel for middle-school kids, The Last Synapsid, was published by Random House. His new historical thriller for adults, The Chorister, will soon be published by Algonquin Books.
  Mel Marvin (Composer) has composed at the Globe for Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas! and Tintypes. His Broadway credits include Yentl, A History of the American Film, Tintypes (Tony Award nomination), Fascinating Rhythm, Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas!, and Cymbeline (Lincoln Center Theater). He has also had nine shows produced Off Broadway. His other credits include scores for many of America’s best-known regional theatres, including Arena Stage, The Guthrie Theater, American Repertory Theater, La Jolla Playhouse, Lincoln Center Theater, and Mark Taper Forum, where he was an associate artist and wrote the original music for the premiere of Angels in America. Marvin’s other projects include Guest from the Future, an opera with libretto by Jonathan Levi that had its premiere in the Summerscape program at the Fisher Center for the Arts in July 2004, and Buwalsky, an opera commissioned by Holland’s Opera Spanga that premiered in The Netherlands in August 2004 and subsequently toured the U.S. with performances in New Haven and New York City. A recent musical, EDEN, set in New Orleans the week after Katrina, was done at the O’Neill Music Theater Conference in July 2010. Elmer Gantry, a musical of the Sinclair Lewis novel, received a major revival last fall at Signature Theatre Company. Marvin is head faculty composer and producing director of the Graduate Musical Theatre Writing Program at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts. Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas! is one of seven musicals for young audiences he has written for his daughter, Kate.
  Jack O’Brien (Conceived and Directed Original Production, Artistic Director Emeritus) served as the Artistic Director of The Old Globe from 1981 through 2007.   James Vásquez (Director, Swing, Dance Captain) Previously at The Old Globe, Vásquez directed Rich Girl, Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas!,and Richard O’Brien’s The Rocky Horror Show and provided musical staging for The Comedy of Errors directed by Scott Ellis, Boeing-Boeing,and the 2013 Shakespeare Festival production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream. He received Craig Noel Award nominations for Outstanding Direction of a Musical for the world premiere of Harmony, Kansas and the West Coast premiere of [title of show] (Diversionary Theatre) and won the award in 2010 for Sweeney Todd (Cygnet Theatre Company). His other recent directing/choreography credits include West Side Story and Cats (San Diego Musical Theatre), Clybourne Park (Old Globe/USD M.F.A. Program), Pippin and Next Fall (Diversionary), and Hedwig and the Angry Inch and Pageant (Cygnet), as well as developmental workshops at La Jolla Playhouse and Goodspeed Musicals. In 2004, Vásquez founded Daisy 3 Pictures with Mark Holmes and Carrie Preston. Their first two feature films, 29th and Gay and Ready?   Bob Richard (Additional Choreography) has provided choreography for Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas! at The Old Globe, on Broadway, on tour, and, this year, at Grand Ole Opry. Off Broadway heco-directed andchoreographed Inventing Mary Martin: The Revue of a Lifetime (Joe A. Callaway Award finalist from Stage Directors and Choreographers Foundation). His national tour credits include choreographing the 50th anniversary tour of Hello, Dolly! starring Sally Struthers; Cabaret, which won several awards around the country; and the national tour of Guys and Dolls. His work is also currently running in an original musical Shanghai Bund in China. For television he choreographed season 3 of “LazyTown” for Turner Network Television, “The Tonight Show,” “The Today Show,” and “Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.” This fall Richard will return to The 5th Avenue Theatre in Seattle (where he won a Footlight Award) to stage How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying and to Ordway Center for the Performing Arts in St. Paul (where he won an Ivey Award) for The Sound of Music. He is honored to have been resident choreographer for Music Circus for the past 18 years, staging over 40 productions, including this season’s West Side Story, which he directed. He spent part of this past summer as a guest master instructor with the one and only Chet Walker at the prestigious Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival. His other notable credits include Madison Square Garden, North Shore Music Theatre, Theatre Under The Stars, and Pioneer Theatre Company.   Elan McMahan (Musical Director) served as music director at the Globe for The Grinch (2013-2014) as well as the 2012 and 2013 Shakespeare Festivals.McMahan is the resident music director for Moonlight Stage Productions in Vista. Her work at Moonlight and the Globe has received critical acclaim, including a Craig Noel Award for Outstanding Musical Direction from the San Diego Theatre Critics Circle for a body of 2012 work that included the Globe’s As You Like It and Moonlight’s Fiddler on the Roof and Sweeney Todd. McMahan holds music degrees from Brigham Young University and the St. Louis Conservatory of Music.
  John Lee Beatty (Scenic Design) has designed the Globe productions of Cornelia, Dancing in the Dark, Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas!,and Redwood Curtain.   Robert Morgan (Costume Design) has designed the Broadway productions of Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas!, The Full Monty, Imaginary Friends, I’m Not Rappaport,and Sherlock’s Last Case. His Off Broadway credits include Pride’s Crossing and Saturn Returns (Lincoln Center Theater) and The Loves of Anatol (Circle in the Square Theatre). His television credits include “American Playhouse,” The Skin of Our Teeth,and A Christmas Carol. He has designed internationally for the West End and Maria Theresa’s Schönbrunn Palace Theater in Vienna. His regional credits include The Old Globe (Associate Artist), Ahmanson Theatre, American Conservatory Theater, American Players Theatre, The Denver Center for the Performing Arts, Guthrie Theater, Huntington Theatre Company, The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, McCarter Theatre Center, Milwaukee Repertory Theatre, Oregon Shakespeare Festival, Portland Center Stage, Seattle Repertory Theatre, Studio Arena Theater, and Williamstown Theatre Festival. He has received two Drama Desk Award nominations and 12 Drama-Logue Awards, and he has exhibited at Prague Quadrennial. He is the former Director of Boston University’s Theatre Arts Division, School for the Arts.
  Pat Collins (Lighting Design) has designed the Globe productions of Twelfth Night, Cymbeline,and Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas! Her Broadway credits include Orphans, Good People, Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas!, Doubt (Tony Award nomination), Sight Unseen, Proof, A Moon for the Misbegotten, A Delicate Balance, The Sisters Rosensweig, Conversations with My Father, The Heidi Chronicles, I’m Not Rappaport (Tony Award), Execution of Justice (Drama Desk Award), the original and 1988 revival of Ain’t Misbehavin’, Once Upon a Mattress, An American Daughter,and many more. Her Lincoln Center Theater credits include Third, Ten Unknowns, Death and the King’s Horseman, The Threepenny Opera (Tony nomination), The Floating Lightbulb,and Measure for Measure. Her Off Broadway credits include The Foreigner, Doubt, Burn This, Quartermaine’s Terms, How I Got That Story,and A Life in the Theatre. Collins has designed lighting at theatres throughout the country, including the Mark Taper Forum, McCarter Theatre Center, Berkeley Repertory Theatre, Seattle Repertory Theatre, Hartford Stage, Alley Theatre, Center Stage, Long Wharf Theatre, Guthrie Theater, Goodman Theatre, American Repertory Theater, and Actor’s Theatre of Louisville. She has also designed for Wagner’s Ring Cycle at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, and over 100 productions for opera companies throughout the world.

Peterson received his B.F.A. in Drama with an emphasis in Technical Design from San Diego State University.
  Anita Ruth (Orchestrator) is an orchestrator, arranger, and musical director active in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area. She has prepared over 150 musicals in the last 30 years. She was the musical director of the Chanhassen Dinner Theatres from 1968 to 1988. Since then she has been a freelance music director and orchestrator at Guthrie Theater, Children’s Theatre Company, Bloomington Civic Theatre, and Theatre Mu, among others. She has been the arranger/music director for three Shakespeare productions at the Guthrie as well as music directing their production of A Christmas Carol for the last seven years. In 2004 she orchestrated two operas composed by Mel Marvin―one presented in Holland and the other at Bard College.
  Joshua Rosenblum (Vocal Arrangements and Incidental Music) has conducted 13 Broadway and Off Broadway shows, specializing in flying vehicles (Miss Saigon, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang,and Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas!). He is the composer-lyricist of the Off Broadway smash hit revue Bush is Bad as well as the musicals Fermat’s Last Tango, Einstein’s Dreams, Garbo and Me, and Mark Felt, Superstar. As a pianist, he has appeared with The New York Pops at Carnegie Hall, the Encores! series at New York City Center, and in solo recitals at Symphony Space. He is a faculty member of the Yale University Department of Music and a contributing writer for Opera News. Rosenblum is the founder and music director of the Pit Stop Players and the recipient of a grant from Signature Theatre in Washington, DC, as part of the American Musical Voices Project.
  David Krane (Dance Music Arranger) created the dance music and additional score for the Oscar-winning Chicago and the film of Nine; created the musical score adaptation for Disney’s Into The Woods starring Meryl Streep; produced and arranged Michelle Williams’s vocals for My Week with Marilyn;and composed Aspire with Stephen Cole, the first American musical produced in the Middle East. Their musical comedy about that incredible experience, The Road to Qatar!, was produced in Dallas, New York City, and the Edinburgh Festival. Her Broadway credits include Dirty Blonde, Amour,and One Mo’ Time.
